Hyundai Hope on Wheels Donates $25,000 to Children’s
The 2009 Hope on Wheels Tour is traveling nationwide to donate more than $1.3 million to childhood cancer research institutions and made a ceremonial stop at Children’s in June. Hyundai Motor America and its dealers presented Children’s Hospital & Medical Center a donation of $25,000 from Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

Don Coulter, M.D., Hematology/Oncology physician at Children’s was named a 2009 Hyundai Scholar and will use the funds to support his research into neuroblastoma, the most common extra-cranial solid tumor of childhood cancer. After Dr. Coulter was recognized, some of Children’s cancer patients took part in the Hope on Wheels Handprint Ceremony, during which they dipped their hands in finger paint and apply their colorful handprints to a white Hyundai Santa Fe. The car, which is covered in children’s handprints from all over the country, is the symbol of Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

“I offer great thanks to Hyundai and its dealers for their forward-thinking approach in dedicating research funds to pediatric cancer,” said Dr. Coulter. “We work hard to make a difference in the lives of our patients each and every day, but in order to make a bigger difference for even more children, we have to do research.”
