Many in pediatric medicine have had the opportunity to work with and learn from longtime Omaha pediatrician Gil Schreiner, M.D. A new center created and named in his honor will ensure his legacy lives on for generations to come.
The Gilbert C. Schreiner Center for Developmental Pediatrics will be part of the new Specialty Pediatric Center, which is currently under construction. The center will be comprised of the Children's Development Clinic (CDC), Craniofacial Clinic, Osteogenesis Imperfecta Clinic, NICU Follow-up Clinic and Helmet Clinic.
"In naming the center for Dr. Schreiner, we are paying tribute to a man who has given so much of himself in service to our community," said Gary A. Perkins, FACHE, president and CEO of Children's Hospital & Medical Center.
"Gil has always been an advocate for comprehensive care of his patients, always stressing the ‘whole child approach,'" added Gary Lerner, M.D., medical director of the CDC.
A generous donation from Ruth and Bill Scott helped to support the creation of the center.
